February 5th Newsletter

February 5, 2018 

PRAYER FAMILIES
In our prayers this week, we remember the following school families: Scott & Melissa Oates, Tyson & Erin Oden, Dave & Lisa Oltmans, and Jon & Megan Overbeck.

CHAPEL OFFERINGS FOR FEBRUARY
The offerings for the month of February will go to Nebraska Campus Ministries. This is the Nebraska District Hearts for Jesus project, with money being collected by all the Lutheran Schools in Nebraska. In January, we collected $129.36 for Lutheran Hour Ministries work in Cambodia.

FEBRUARY CALENDAR
The February calendar was sent home last week. Please save it for reference during the month of February. Remember, the lunch menu is on the reverse side.

LUNCH & TUITION BILLS
January lunch and February tuition bills will be sent home today. If you have any questions, please contact the school office.

BAND
There will be NO 5th Grade band this week during or after school as Mr. Lojo has jury duty.

SINGING IN CHURCH
St. Paul’s students will sing in church this Sunday, February 11th at the 8:00 a.m. service. Please plan to attend and thank the St. Paul’s congregation for their continued support of your child’s education.

PTL
Parent Teacher League will meet next Tuesday, February 13th at 7:00 p.m. at the school. Please plan to attend!

MARK YOUR CALENDARS
St. Paul’s will be having a church service in the school gym at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, March 4th. The students will sing at this service, a celebration to begin Lutheran Schools Week. The LYF will serve a soup luncheon after the service.  

WINE TASTING EVENT
Join us Friday, March 2nd, for a Wine Tasting Event at the 4 Generations Barn just north of Pickrell sponsored by friends of St. Paul’s Lutheran School. This 21 and older event will include wines, ales, appetizers, and entertainment. More details to come! Proceeds of the event will go towards the purchase of additional school-wide S.T.E.M. and computer coding curriculum.

CAMP LUTHER
Information booklets about Summer Camps at Camp Luther went home with your child last week. This Thursday, February 8th, we will enjoy a visit from the Camp Luther directors, beginning at 2:30 p.m.

MID-QUARTER REPORTS
This Friday, February 9th brings us to the middle of the 3rd quarter grading period. Mid-Quarter reports for students in Kindergarten through 5th grade will be discussed with parents at conferences on February 20th & 22nd.

KINDERGARTEN CHAPEL
The Kindergarten class will present their class Chapel on Wednesday, February 14th at 8:30 a.m. Parents are welcome to worship with us on that day as well as any Wednesday morning.

VALENTINE’S DAY
Valentines may be brought and handed out at school for Valentine’s Day on Wednesday, February 14th (Pre-School- Tuesday, February 13th). To avoid any hurt feelings, we ask that the children bringing Valentines bring one for each member of the class or hand out none at school.

NO SCHOOL
There will be no school on Friday, February 16th and Monday, February 19th for students in all grades, Pre-Kindergarten through 5th.

PARENT-TEACHER CONFERENCES
Conferences for Kindergarten through Grade 5 students are scheduled for Tuesday, February 20th from 4:00-8:00 p.m., and Thursday, February 22nd from 4:00-7:30 p.m.  Conference notes will be sent home this week indicating the time of your conferences. They were scheduled similar to the time of the 1st quarter conferences last September. If the time scheduled for your conference will not work, contact your child’s teacher to schedule a new time.  Mrs. Duever will be out of town on Thursday attending the Best Practice in Ministry Conference in Arizona, so all 5th Grade conferences will be on Tuesday.

UPCOMING FIELD TRIP
The 2nd Grade class will make their monthly visit to Mosaic on Friday, February 23rd.

GRANDPARENTS DAY
Grandparents Day is Friday, March 9th with students in grades K-5 presenting a variety program beginning at 10:00 a.m.  Specially prepared invitations are available through the school to invite grandparents, “honorary” grandparents, uncles, aunts, and all other special friends. An information sheet will be sent home this week. If you need invitations, please let us know by Thursday, February 8th.

Cookies for Grandparents Day: If your last name begins with A-L (grades K-5) please provide one dozen cookies for our guests at Grandparents Day. You may send the cookies on Friday, March 9th.  (Those of you whose last names begin with M-Z will be asked to provide cookies for the Spring Musical in April.)

YEARBOOK COMMITTEE
The yearbook committee needs pictures! Grades K-5: We need pictures of field trips, class parties, New Year’s Eve, or any pictures of a St. Paul’s activity. Please e-mail pictures to kariek76@yahoo.com. Thank you!

2018-2019 APPLICATIONS
We are in the process of accepting applications for new students in Pre-School, Pre-Kindergarten, and Kindergarten through 5th Grade for the next school year (2018-2019). If you know of anyone interested in enrolling in St. Paul’s School, please give their name to the school office or ask them to contact the school.

SUNMART RECEIPTS
SunMart cash register receipts update: our current total is $32,663.38. You can also collect Box Tops, Best Choice UPC labels (from Heartland Foods), Tyson Project A+ labels, and Our Family labels (UPC portion). We can turn in all of these labels to receive money for our school.
