PRAYER FAMILIES
The staff will continue our Prayer Family ministry this year. Each week at faculty devotions and at Chapel we will be praying for some of our school families. As Christian mentors we want to model for our students the importance of lifting up community members in prayer. When your family is a Prayer Family, you will receive a letter from Vanessa Smith, our secretary. Please let Mrs. Duever or another faculty member know if you have any specific prayer requests. We will begin our Prayer Family program the week of September 5th.

MARK YOUR CALENDARS
The All School Field Trip will be held on Monday, September 19th. We will travel as a school to Vala’s Pumpkin Patch. The cost is $12/adult and $7.50/child. The cost includes a train ride and pumpkin for students, and a train ride and pumpkin coupon for adults. An informational sign-up sheet is coming home with your child today!

CHAPEL OFFERINGS FOR AUGUST & SEPTEMBER- MERCY MEALS
We will be sending our offerings to Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Odell, to assist with their purchasing of foods for Mercy Meals. The Mercy Meals program packs nutritious food that is delivered to children in need throughout the world. We are also planning a packing event here at school. We will keep you posted as plans are made. We will need many volunteers! Last week, we sent home a small green envelope with students in Grades K-5 which may be used for a Chapel donation during the months of August or September.

BANK IN SCHOOLS
Our Bank In Schools program begins tomorrow, Tuesday, August 30th. Each week students will be able to make deposits into their savings accounts at Pinnacle Bank. For every 5th deposit, the students will receive a small prize. The bank will be open from 8:00-8:30 AM. If your child is bringing in their deposit using the small black zippered pouch from Pinnacle Bank, please write their name on the inside of the pouch to ensure that if it is lost we can locate the owner.

LIBRARY
Library check outs will begin this week. Our librarians for this year are: Monday- open, Tuesday- Bly Rash, Wednesday- open, Thursday- Kati Robinson, and Friday- Toree Lang. Our substitute is Kyla Moore. We thank them for sharing their time with our students. We still need librarians for Monday and Wednesday. Please consider volunteering!

REMINDER
September tuition was paid at registration; your next tuition payment will be due October 1st. When your lunch account drops below $10.00, a reminder will come home!

NO SCHOOL
There will be no school next Monday, September 5th, as we observe Labor Day.

JR. FIRE MARSHAL PROGRAM
Next week, Tuesday, September 6th, the 5th Grade students will begin the Jr. Fire Marshal program sponsored by the Beatrice Fire Department. The program runs for 4 weeks, meeting one hour a week and is taught by firefighter Josh Hesson.

SUNDAY SCHOOL
Sunday School at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church will begin Sunday, September 11th. The Sunday School classes will be held in the church basement at 9:15 AM.

SINGING IN CHURCH
Please watch your email for a note about having your student(s) sing in church with our school family on Sunday, September 11th at 8:00 AM. The email requires a response by filling in the name(s) of your children and checking “yes” or “no”. This will help us to plan for singing that day.

CHRISTIAN EDUCATION SUNDAY
We are planning a special Christian Education Sunday at the 8:00 AM Worship Service at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church on Sunday, September 11th. The students in Grades K-5 will sing during this service. The students are to sit with their parents and will come up to the front when they sing. If you are not members of St. Paul’s Church, we invite you to worship with us on this Sunday so your children may sing with us.

PARENT TEACHER LEAGUE
St. Paul School has a parent organization, PTL, which gives all parents an opportunity to participate in your child’s school and education. The first PTL meeting will be held Tuesday, September 13th at 7:00 PM. All parents, Pre-School through 5th Grade are invited and encouraged to attend.

TESTING
This week, the K-5 students will begin taking fall MAPS assessments. Please make sure they are well rested and eat a good breakfast, so they can do their best on the tests.

CARING GRANDPARENTS PROGRAM
Mrs. Myrna Spilker has organized our “Caring Grandparents” Program for this year. Through this program, adults volunteer their time one morning a week to work with our students. Our Caring Grandparents this year are: Mrs. Myrna Spilker, Mrs. Dorothy Jurgens, Mrs. Bev Duensing, Mrs. Marlene Wallman, Mrs. Lorelie Ankersen, Mrs. Brenda Carnes, Mrs. Vickie Frerking, Mrs. LeeAnn Genrich, Miss Thelma Loemker, and Mrs. Darlene Scheidler. If you know of someone who would like to be a Caring Grandparent, please let us know as Mrs. Spilker is working to line up a volunteer for Tuesday mornings.

MEDICATION POLICY
When a student must take medication, either prescription or over the counter (including Aspirin, Tylenol, cough drops, etc.) a note must accompany the medication which includes the following information: student’s name and directions for taking the medication. Directions must include when it is to be taken and the amount to be taken each time. If it is a prescription medication, the name of the doctor is also required. The note must be signed and dated by a parent or legal guardian. Medication must be brought to school in the original container with appropriate label attached. No unlabeled medication in baggies should be brought to school. The medication will be kept in a locked container and a record of medications taken will be kept by the school.

SUNMART RECEIPTS
SunMart cash register receipts update: We started the year with $142,411.26. Currently, our total is $148,467.23. Thanks for saving them over the summer! For those who may not be familiar with the program, we collect receipts until we have receipts totaling $150,000.00. We turn them in to SunMart, their home office then sends our school a check for $1,000.00. To date, St. Paul’s School has received $20,000.00 through this program since we started with it in 2005. We have used these funds for computer software and other things, so we really appreciate your help in collecting SunMart receipts.

In Christ,
Amy Duever
