January 23rd Newsletter

January 23, 2018

In our prayers this week, we remember the following school families: Teresa Martin & Russ Mann, John & Sara Martin, Andrew & Jana Maschmann, and Steve & Jessica McCarthy.

The offerings for the month of January will go to Lutheran Hour Ministries-Cambodia Missions. Our current total is $28.10. We will begin our online mission trip to Cambodia today. Each day the students will watch a video about the Lutheran Hour Ministries’ work in Cambodia, as well as learn information about the culture and country.

We will be serving at the Warren’s Table today. The students in Grades K-5 will be making the food during the school day. Grades 4th and 5th are invited to help us serve that evening. We will serve at the Christ Church Episcopal from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Students wishing to help should come in the South door by 4:45 p.m. and be picked up by 6:40 p.m.

Information booklets about Summer Camps at Camp Luther are coming home with your child today.

B.E.A.R (Be Excited About Reading) Fair began last Wednesday, January 17th. This year we will again be conducting a magazine subscription fundraiser and a cookie dough sale to raise money for items in the library of our school and our outdoor classroom.  The first coupon turn in date is today, Tuesday, January 23rd. The other turn in dates are Friday, January 26th, with a final turn in on Tuesday, January 30th.  ONLINE ORDERS:  When ordering online at www.gaschoolstore.com, the number to use for St. Paul’s Lutheran School is 2488385.

Parent Visitation Day will be held next week, Thursday, February 1st for students in Pre-School through 5th grade, and on Friday, February 2nd for the Pre-Kindergarten classes. Parents are welcome anytime at school, however, on these days, we extend a special invitation for parents to visit the school. If you wish to eat a hot lunch with your child, please notify the school office by 8:30 that morning. Adult lunch price is $3.55 and child lunch price is $2.90. We remind you that lunches from fast food restaurants may not be brought to school.

Since the 4th and 5th Grade students have a field trip on the 1st, parents in those grades are invited to visit Friday, February 2nd.

2nd Grade will make their monthly visit to Mosaic on Friday, January 26th.

The 1st Grade class will present their Class Chapel on Wednesday, January 31st at 8:30 a.m. Parents are invited to worship with us at this special chapel, as well as any Wednesday.

The 4th and 5th Grade classes will be traveling to Omaha on Thursday, February 1st to hear “The Science of Sound” presented by the Omaha Symphony Orchestra.

The Kindergarten class needs large oatmeal boxes for Valentine’s Day. If you have any empty ones, please send them to school.

We are in the process of accepting applications for new students in Pre-School, Pre-Kindergarten, and Kindergarten through 5th Grade for the next school year (2018-2019). If you know of anyone interested in enrolling in St. Paul’s School, please give their name to the school office or ask them to contact the school.

SunMart cash register receipts update: our current total is $28,163.15. You can also collect Box Tops, Best Choice UPC labels (from Heartland Foods), Tyson Project A+ labels, and Our Family labels (UPC portion). We can turn in all of these labels to receive money for our school.  The Campbells labels for Education program has ended, we no longer need you to turn in those labels.
